It is nice playing golf in the winter and not dealing with
snow. I am used to this!
So far I have played the the following courses:
- Fort Shafter I play this one on the most regular basis.
A Truely Exceptional Day! 15 May 2010
My best score had been an 83, note the third line. I acheived an 81! I also scored the second EAGLE of my golf career! It was on a par 3!! A HOLE IN ONE! - Barber's Point
- Mamalabay (Hickam Air Field)
- Hawaiian Country Club
- Mililani Country Club
- Pearl Country Club
- Ko'olau Golf Club A spectular PGA course (lost a dozen golf balls!) Update- Played this again in Dec 06. Par'ed the 15th hole from the BLACK tees! This is their signature hole with great views and the highest point on the course.
- Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course A US Marine Corps Golf Course.
- Leilehua Golf Course I scored an 80! I won't mention the best ball 4 person scramble part, or the mulligan and string rules.
- The newly renovated Navy Marine Golf Course - Pearl Harbor (Link here for more information) Again played this as part of a four person shotgun, best ball. We did well (for us) with a 69 and the Hooter's Girls were there too.
- Turtle Bay Palmer Course - Lots of fun on this one. Lost about 8 golf balls, mostly in the water. The course was very nice, well kept. You could easily putt on the fringe of the green, but you will lose the ball in the "wooly mamoth" fur rough. (Dec 06)
- Hickam Par 3 Golf Course (lots of detail here) We played "glow golf." You put a small glow stick inside a clear golf ball. Be careful because it can fall out! It did for me but we actually found it (thanks Dan) so I was able to continue. We did well, tied for 4th. Played Feb 2007.
- Luana Hills Country Club - Played this twice. The first time was on a very rainy day. It's a great course and we had fun, but it was pretty miserable weather. The second time was more enjoyable. I did not score too badly. As usual lost count of lost balls. For the first few holes, the group was losing more golf balls than the par for the course! We settled down in the end but still lost a boat load. (Dec 2006)
- Royal Kunia Country Club A very pretty course and I was actually doing well till that par 5 on 9. (53 and 49) Par on 3 holes (5, 12, & 18)
- Prince Hawaiian Golf Course - This golf course has 27 holes, played it on Christmas Eve 2007. Did well for me. We played courses C and B. Tried out my new toy (SkyCaddie SG5) that I bought on Friday when I had a club regriped. Talk about buying on impulse. It is fun, used it on 4 courses since that time.
Golf Courses in Florida
While visiting family in Florida, my Dad, brothers and nephew have had the opportunity to play some courses.
- Palm Beach Gardens Municiple Golf Course Played this on in May 2007. In a drought so it was a little burned out. Did not get a chance but the driving range is into a lake! One water hazard you aim for!
- The Saints at Port St. Lucie I have played this one several times in October 2006 and once in May 2007. Did pretty well this last time.
- Invarray Golf Club A super pair of courses. We played it twice (once on each side) during my visit in October 2006. See Jackie Gleason's golf cart!
